The 3rd meeting of the Governing Council took place, the CEO of NITI Aayog Shri Amitabh kant, reviewed the work done by the Niti Aayog. The work of transforming the economy and cooperation with states in the sectors of education, health etc. he spoke about the work done by the sub-groups of the Chief Minister on rationalization of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Swachh Bharat Mission and Skill Development. He has outlined initiative that has been taken in various fields. He wants to work and resolve to facilitate partnership with states for transforming India under the framework of cooperative and competitive federalism.

What was in the meeting?

  • He has asked the states to treat NITI as their outpost in Delhi
  • It is working on the platform for sharing best practices to strengthen the learning ecosystem
  • It has been making large institutions its partner for knowledge sharing and ideation so that it can nurture evidence based policy making
  • They are going to set out new approach which will envisages a 15 year long term vision which will accompanied by a 7 year strategy and a 3 year action agenda
  • The draft of the Action Agenda was given out in the meeting with inputs from different states
  • The period of the Action Agenda and the period of the 14th Finance Commissions award will coincide with each other
  • Due to this there will be stability in the funding estimates of both Centre and State
  • The presentation on GST was made by the Revenue Secretary Shri Hasmukh Adhia he explained the benefits and the way forward.
