The Paytm’s association as title sponsor for Indian cricket has been extended for 5 more years by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This sponsorship extension is applicable to all cricket matches, domestic and international, played in India.

This title sponsorship rights were bagged by signing the deal for Rs. 326.80 crores which Paytm will pay to BCCI over a period ranging between 2019 and 2023, starting October 2019.

Overview

  • The BCCI opened its bid documents at its headquarter in Mumbai for next cycle- October 2019 to September 2023. The parent company of Paytm One 97 Communications Pvt. Ltd walked away with winning bid at Rs. 3.80 crores/match.

  • This winning bid of Rs. 3.80 crore/match is at 58 % incremental value in terms of sponsorship amount. The previous per match value of Rs. 2.4 crore/match.

  • The BCCI has offered an extension of sponsorship rights for domestic cricket and women’s international games with additional cost involvement.

  • The Paytm will continue to be title sponsor for all major cricket tournaments in India. The Indian men cricket team is to host at least 86 international matches in bilateral series over next 4 year period.

  • Established in 2010, Paytm is an Indian e-commerce payment system and digital wallet company with its Headquarter at Noida (Special Economic Zone), India.

  • One 97 Communications is the parent company of Paytm. The services are available in 11 Indian languages.

  • Services related to mobile recharges, utility bill payments, travel, movies, and events bookings as well as in-store payments at grocery stores, fruits and vegetable shops, restaurants, parking, tolls, pharmacies and education institutions are provided by Paytm.

BCCI

  • Established in 1928, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acts as the national governing body for cricket in India.

  • The Headquarter is at Mumbai in Maharashtra.

  • The BCCI is also the richest cricket board in the World and it doesn’t depend on the Government of India for its finances.

  • Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare trophy etc are the domestic cricket competitions organised by the BCCI.
