Union Government Launches DigiShala TV Channel to Promote Digital Payments

Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has introduced Digi Dhan Abhiyan campaign to enable every citizen, small trader and merchant to adopt digital payments in their everyday financial transactions. It is as an attempt to promote digital payments in the country.

  • It is not mandatory for the service provider and direct-to-home (DTH) airing it and customers may opt for it.
  • The Ministry has also conceptualized a campaign - Digi Dhan Abhiyan - to enable every citizen, small trader and merchant to adopt digital payments in their everyday transactions.
  • It will coordinate and run the Digi Dhan Abhiyan in effective partnership with other ministries of the Centre and State governments.
  • As part of the programme, the government will also tell people how to safeguard their accounts from cyber-crimes and phishing.
TV Channel to Inform Citizens About Digital Payment

Features

  • It is free-to-air TV channel.
  • It will be broadcasted nationally on DD Free Dish DTH service.
  • Citizens will be informed and educated about various digital payment options through step by step demos of digital payments using e-wallets, UPI, USSD, Aadhaar-enabled payment systems and cards.
  • The services on the channel initially will be available in Hindi and English and later in local languages as well.
  • Areas related to Digital Payment ecosystem, its tools, processes and benefits.

  • Prasad held the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Mines, the Ministry of Law and Justice, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting during the NDA Government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee՚s Prime Minister Ship.
  • He was also a designated senior advocate in the Supreme Court of India.
