Food Park is located at Village Shah and Vasravi, Taluka Mangrol, District Surat.

It will provide direct & indirect employment to 5,000 persons & benefit abt. 25,000 farmers.

About Mega Food Parks

  • Ministry of Food Processing Industries is implementing Mega Food Park Scheme in country.

  • Scheme of Mega Food Park aims at providing mechanism to link agricultural production to market by bringing together farmers, processors & retailers as to ensure maximizing value addition, minimizing wastages, increasing farmers’ income & creating employment opportunities particularly in rural sector.

  • This is set up in 70.15 acre of land at a cost of Rs. 117.87 cr.

  • Various facilities in Food Park include:

    • Multi Chamber Cold Store of 3,500 MT (1,500 MT Frozen & 2,000 MT MA),

    • Warehouse of 5,000 MT,

    • IQF of 2 TPH,

    • Pulping Line,

    • QC Laboratory etc.

  • These food parks give major boost to food processing sector by adding value & reducing food wastage at each stage of supply chain w/particular focus on perishables.

  • It has 4 PPCs at Bharuch, Padra (Vadodara), Valsad & Navsari having facilities for primary processing & storage near farms.

  • Max. grant of R. 50 cr. is given for setting up MFP, in min. 50 acres of contiguous land w/only 50 % contribution to total project cost.

Mode of Operation:

  • Scheme has cluster-based approach based on hub & spokes model. It includes creation of infrastructure for primary processing & storage near farm in form of Primary Processing Centres (PPCs) & Collection Centres (CCs) & common facilities & enabling infrastructure at Central Processing Centre (CPC).

  • PPCs are meant for functioning as link b/w producers & processors for supply of raw material to Central Processing Centres.

  • CPC has need based core processing facilities & basic enabling infrastructure to be used by food-processing unit’s setup at CPC. Min. area required for CPC is 50 acres.

  • Scheme is demand-driven & would facilitate food-processing units to meet environmental, safety & social standards.

  • Gujarat’s 2nd Mega Food Park is sanctioned by Ministry in Mehsana District of Gujarat.
