  • Students would get scholarships directly in their bank accounts under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Background on NSP Mobile App

  • Ministry of Minority Affairs has completely gone online to provide benefits of every scheme directly to needy w/o any obstacle & eliminating middlemen.

  • Transparent & hassle-free scholarship system has helped in this endeavor by going online.

  • Ministry of Minority Affairs has worked w/commitment to “3E- Education, Employment & Empowerment” & “3T-Teacher, Tiffin, Toilet”.

  • This enabled inclusion of educational institutions of all Minority communities including Madarsas in mainstream education.

  • Under “Empowerment w/o Appeasement” policy of govt. :

  • 3 cr. students belonging to poor & weaker sections of Minorities are benefitted from various scholarship programmes.

  • Beneficiaries include about 1 cr. 63 lakh girls.

  • School dropout rate among Muslim girls has halved.

What is Direct Benefit Transfer?

  • Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) means transferring subsidy amount & other benefits directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts instead of providing it thru govt. offices.

Advantages of DBT:

  • Leakages are avoided as govt. directly provides fund to beneficiary. Money is sent into bank account of beneficiary.

  • It helps govt. to better target beneficiary. Facilitating mechanism is Aadhaar. Since Aadhaar is universal ID, govt. can identify beneficiary from his Aadhaar details while connecting it w/DBT.
