Well Known Urdu Writer Intizar Husain Passed Away [ Current News (Concise) ]

Intizar Husain a fabulous Urdu fiction writer, novelist, columnist and poet has passed away in Lahore, Pakistan at the age of 93 years. He was the first person from Pakistan and the first Urdu writer who is nominated for the prestigious literally award Man Booker International Prize for fiction.

About Intizar Husain

  • He was born on December 7, 1923 at Dibai in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh in India.
  • In 1947 he had moved to Lahore.
  • He has completed his post-graduation (MA) in Urdu from the Meerut College in 1946.
  • As journalist he had worked in various newspapers and had retired from ‘Daily Mashriq’ in 1988.

He has penned many books and some the famous books are:

  • Kankari
  • Gali Koochay
  • Shehr-i-afsos
  • Din Aur Dastan
  • Kachhuay
  • Khaimay Say Door
  • Morenama Khali
  • Pinjra
  • Sheharzad Kay Naam

Awards and Honors:

  • ‘Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters’ by French Government in 2014.
  • He becomes first person from Pakistan and the first Urdu writer to be nominated at the 10 finalists for the Man Booker International Prize for fiction in 2013.
