Workshop on “Online Course on Digital Payments” was organized by FICCI & NITI Aayog. Course was developed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) & Department of Telecommunications (DoT) w/inputs form key stakeholders targeting mid-level Govt. Officers/Academicians engaged in training.

  • Course covered various aspects related to Digital Payments such as standards, interoperability, security issues, futuristic trends like distributed ledger technologies, etc. & was divided into 3 modules.

  • Over 80 participants from various Govt. Dept. / Training Institutions/Academia registered in this programme.

  • B N Satpathy, Senior Consultant, EAC-PM set context for workshop & provided 3-step way forward:

  • Based on experience from course, training & academic institutions from across India could plan/develop similar courses on Digital payments in their respective institutions

  • NITI Aayog may explore possibility of using this course as benchmark & may develop future courses on ICT in collaboration w/ITU, DoT & other Ministries on priority topics

  • Good project assignments that are submitted in this course could be invited for presentation, further developed & considered for piloting & support by stakeholders in India.

  • Key component of this workshop was presentations on various assignments undertaken by participants.

  • Workshop displayed some of these ideas suggested by participants.

  • During industry interaction, Members from fintech fraternity & financial institutions shared some of their insights on how some of these projects can be made more viable & extended support on existing technological infrastructure that can be leveraged from implementation point of view.

  • There is lot of scope for furthering Digital Payments in country for which there is need to organise similar capacity building exercises.
