March 3rd of each year marks as World Wildlife Day globally. Aim is to raise awareness about animals and plants that adorn planet Earth. This day celebrated and implemented by the secretariat of the CITES in collaboration with other relevant United Nations Organizations.

Young – The Key Aspect:

  • Engaging and empowering the youth is the call of the 2017 United Nations WWD.
  • Almost one quarter of the world’s population is aged between 10 and 24.
  • Energetic efforts need to be made to encourage young people.
  • It is also up to every citizen, young and old to protect wildlife and their habitats.

What is World Wildlife Day?

  • Created to give the world a dedicated day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s animals and plants.
  • Adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973.
  • The future of wildlife is in our hands.

  • 2017: “Listen to the young voices”
  • 2016: “The future of wildlife is in our hands”, with a sub-theme “The future of elephants is in our hands”.
