Definition of Communication
- The process of creating and understanding through exchange of messages or symbolic interactions.
- The information is exchanged between individuals through common system of symbols and signs of behaviour.
- We send and receive messages in communication process. It is a two-way process.
- The devices which need to be the integral part of the communication system can be hardware and software.
Working of Communication System
5 Basic Components of Data CommunicationModes of Communication
- Simplex: In this mode of communication, direction is unidirectional i.e..in one direction.
- Half Duplex: If the data travels in both directions between two workstations or systems but not at same time.
- Full Duplex: If the data travels in both directions between two workstations or systems is called as full duplex mode of communication simultaneously.
Signals
- Analog Signals: These are in the continuous wave form. These can have infinite range of values and they smoothly get changed with the change in the time period.
- Digital Signals: These signals are discrete and they have two definite values i.e.. 0 or 1 (down and up) . These are easier to work as compared to the analog signals.
