List of Optional Subjects in IFS exam

Candidates have to select two optional subjects from the subjects list given below. Each optional subject’s paper will have total eight questions are and all of this questions will be of equal marks. Each paper will be divided into two parts:

  • Part A

  • Part B

Each part will have four questions and candidates have to attempt five questions out of eight. In both the parts one question will be compulsory and Candidates will have to attempt other three questions from the remaining six questions including at least one question from each part. Like so, at least two questions will be attempted from each Part such as one compulsory question and one more.

  • Agricultural Engineering

  • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science

  • Botany

  • Chemistry

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Forestry

  • Geology

  • Mathematics

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Physics

  • Statistics

  • Zoology

List of Combination of Subjects – NOT Allowed:

  • Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering

  • Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science

  • Agriculture and Forestry

  • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

  • Mathematics and Statistics

  • Only one Engineering subjects such as Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
