Combined Geo-Scientist Examination for Indian Geologists Service (IGS)

Basically the applications will be collected in the month of June every year, The exam will take three days including a written examination in November or December. Around 100 positions are filled each year. The candidates who got selected find various different positions in the Central Ground Water Board, Geological Survey of India, ONGC, Department of Atomic Energy, Indian Bureau of Mines i.e.. . IBM etc. Different number of positions will be filled would came into influence through the notifications, which will be further issued. However, The outline of examination is quoted below-

Every year, UPSC collects applications for the recruitment process of Geologists in 2 separate categories in the central government.

Category 1: The Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines. Geologist (Junior) , Group A Assistant Geologist, Grade I, Group B

Category 2: The Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) , Group A

Candidates may apply for the admission in any of the above categories or in both the categories simultaneously as well. In case if he or she is applying for both of the categories, they have to submit only one application plus pay only one application fee.
