Applications are invited for UPSC Geologist 2019 and Geo-Scientist Exam 2019 and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued exam notification of Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2020. The Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination is now renamed as Combined Geo-Scientist exam.

Important Dates:

  • Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination:
  • Date of Notification: 25th September 2020
  • Last Date to Apply Online: 15th October 2019
  • Date of Competitive Examination: 19th January 2020
  • Duration of Examination: Three Days
  • Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination 2020 –
  • Date of commencement of Exam – 27th June 2020
  • Duration of Exam - 2 Days


Nationality: A candidate must be either

  • A Citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limits:

  • The candidate must be 21 to 32.
  • The candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained at the age of 35 years as on January
  • Educational Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Geology/Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university; or
  • Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad; or
  • Master’s degree in Mineral exploration from a recognized university (for posts in GSI); or
  • Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university (for posts in CGWB)

  • Before start filling up of Online Application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the. jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40 KB and must not be less than 3 KB in size for the photograph and 1 KB for the signature.
  • The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) [excepting SC/ST/PH/Female candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using any Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
