Class XII Marks Will Not be Considered in IIT JEE Ranking from 2017, Students Need 75% to Qualify

Students who are interested to attend IIT entrance exams (IIT JEE) will need at least 75% marks in their board exams to qualify from next year, but Class XII marks will not be a counted in rankings.

The Union Human Resources and Development recently announced that students who seek to sit for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination they would have to score at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in theXII Class exams conducted by respective Boards. The changes will come in affect from 2017.

Note: For SC⟋ST category student՚s relaxation will be provided the cut off qualifying marks would be 65% .

Currently 60% marks is require in XII Class for appearing in the JIT and 40% weightage in calculating the ranks in the JEE Main.

HRD official has said “Class XII scores will be a crucial parameter only for determining the eligibility criteria for the exam.”

All other JEE examination systems will not change, these change is only appear in IIT JEE.

Decision in these regard was taken by the Ministry after a committee set up by IIT Council submitted recommendations on changes in the JEE pattern, which were put in the public domain for wide consultations.
