JEE Advanced 2017 Paper 1 and 2 Analysis

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has conducted Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) advanced paper 1 and Paper 2 on 21st May 2017 at various centres in India. Through JEE (Advanced) , IITs offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to Bachelors, Integrated Master՚s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Architecture or Pharmaceutics.

  • Paper 1 was held from: 9: 30 am to 12: 30 pm.
  • Paper 2 was held from 2: 00 pm to 5: 00 pm

Paper 1 Analysis

  • Total marks: 183
  • Duration: 3hrs
  • 61 marks allocated for each subject.
  • Total no. of question: 54 question
  • Format and constitution for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics was the same.
  • In each part there are three sections:
    • 21 multiple correct choice questions for 84 marks
    • 15 integer type questions for 45 marks
    • 18 passagequestions made for 54 marks
  • Difficulty of Paper 1 was found between easy and moderate compare to last year.
  • Matching type questions is different as compared to previous years.

Physics:

  • Compared to last year relatively easier.
  • Majority of questions were conceptual.
  • 18 questions were asked from 10 chapters.

Chemistry:

  • Compared to last year relatively easier.
  • Questions from this subject were mix conceptual and formula based.
  • 18 questions were asked from 11 chapters.

Mathematics:

  • Compared to last year moderately difficult.
  • Questions from this subject were concept based, use of facts and formula.
  • 18 questions were asked from 12 chapters.

  • Compared to last year, the paper was slightly easier. It was also easier than Paper 1.
  • Total marks: 183
  • In each part there are three sections:
    • 21 single choice questions for 63 marks
    • 21 multiple correct choice questions for 84 marks
    • 12 passage type single choice questions made for 36 marks

  • Compared to last year moderate in difficulty.
  • Majority of questions were conceptual.
  • 18 questions were asked from 12 chapters.

Chemistry:

  • Compared to last year relatively easier.
  • Questions from this subject were mix conceptual and formula based.
  • 18 questions were asked from 13 chapters.

Mathematics:

  • Compared to last year moderately difficult.
  • Questions from this subject were concept based, use of facts and formula.
  • 18 questions were asked from 11 chapters.
