Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is National level Fellowship program started by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in 1999 with aim to inspire those Candidates who are studying in Basic Science for getting interest in research career in Science. Registration process starts from 18th July 2016 and exam will be held ONLINE on 6th November 2016.

Fellowship

1. SA/SX/SB - during 1st to 3rd years of - B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Stat. /B. Math. / Integrated M. Sc. /M. S.

  • Monthly Fellowship - Rs. 5000
  • Annual Contingency Grant - Rs. 20000

2. SA/SX/SB - during 1st to 3rd years of - B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Stat. /B. Math. / Integrated M. Sc. /M. S.

  • Monthly Fellowship - Rs. 7000
  • Annual Contingency Grant - Rs. 28000

Eligibility:

  • Nationality must be India.
  • Candidates must hold PIO, OCI card.
  • Pursuing or Pursue under graduate program from recognized university.

SA:

Candidate must had passed XI standard with Science subject in 2014 - 15 academic year.

Must have aggregate of MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE 80% for General and OBC category and 70% for SC/ST/PWD category in X standard Board Examination.

This Fellowship will only be applicable if candidate select undergraduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Stat. /B. Math. /Int. M. Sc. /M. S. ) in the academic year 2016 - 2017 and also have secured minimum of 60% for General and OBC category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD category marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/ (+2) Board Examination.

SX:

  • Candidate must had passed XII standard with Science subject in 2014 - 15 academic year and will join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences such as Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Stat. /B. Math. /Int. M. Sc. /M. S.
  • Must have aggregate of MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE 80% for General and OBC category and 70% for SC/ST/PWD category in X standard Board Examination.
  • Candidates must have secured minimum of 60% for General and OBC category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD category marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/ (+2) Board Examination.

SB:

  • Candidates must enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Stat. /B. Math. /Int. M. Sc. /M. S in the academic year 2014–15.
  • Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% for General and OBC category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD category marks in aggregate SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics) in the XII Standard Board Examination.
  • They must have to secure 60% for General and OBC category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD category marks in 1st year final examination of B. Sc. /B. S. /B. Math. /B. Stat. /Int. M. Sc. /M. S. before taking up the fellowship.

Examination Fees:

The KVPY Application Fee 2016 is as below:

  • Rs 1000/- for General Category/OBC.
  • Rs 500/- for SC/ST/PWD.

Exam Pattern:

  • The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore will take the examination in two stages on KVPY 2016 Exam Date:

1. written aptitude test

2. interview (Only shortlisted Candidates)

  • The written aptitude test is conducted in two ways-

1. Online (computer based)

2. Offline (paper-pen based)

  • The exam is available in Hindi and English languages.
