All India Pre Medical Test i.e.. . AIPMT is being organised by CBSE for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in a huge number of medical and dental colleges all over the country. At present around 15 % of the aggregate number of seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union Government, State Governments and Municipal bodies are absorbed by the successful candidates appearing for the exam in the states of Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh.

From the academic year 2013 − 14 the Union Education Ministry plans to enforce sweeping policy changes and substitute the AIPMT with NEET UG (National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Undergraduate Courses) . Exam will help the aspiring candidates to take a single exam after class XII for around 35,000 medical seats in almost all medical colleges all over the country from the very next academic year. Only AIIMS; Delhi and Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh are expected to kept away from the scope of test.

As we talk about the Engineering entrance tests namely AIEEE and IIT JEE, the NEET shall also have an online version, which will ultimately replace the traditional pen and paper test completely. NEET is expected to have a aggregate of 180 questions separated into 4 equal sections, viz. Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany. All the sections are designed in such a manner as to be completed in 3 hours i.e.. . 180 minutes. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has already confirmed that syllabus for NEET shall be standardized to enclosed the curriculam of all state boards so as to get similarity in the pattern of test as they are already working on preparing a set of model papers for Test.
