Under the direction of Union Health Ministry, NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) will be conducted in eight languages from the academic year 2017 - 18. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam conducted for the admission in medical colleges.

The 8 languages include:

  1. Hindi
  2. English
  3. Gujarati
  4. Marathi
  5. Bengali
  6. Assamese
  7. Telugu
  8. Tamil

Key Detail

  • Those candidate who qualifying NEET will be eligible for All India quota and other quotas under the State governments or Institutes regardless of the medium in which exam is taken by the candidate, subject to other eligibility criteria.
  • Combined efforts of State health Ministries with the Central Health Ministry have leads to this decision so, as to bring equality for the students who have taken the State Board exams.
  • NEET and its implementation in regional languages is the result of Governments commitment.
  • This decision would be taken to bringing about transparency in medical education and removing malpractices.

About NEET

  • National Eligibility Entrance Test is an entrance examination in India. For the students who want to study in MBBS, BDS or postgraduate course (MD/MS) in government or private medical colleges in India.
  • For MBBS and BDS Cources NEET will be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) .
  • In 2013, this exam was declared illegal and unconstitutional by Supreme Court of India. But NEET was restored on April 11 2016.
