UDAAN Project by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) for Girl Students

Udaan aims to provide a platform that empowers girl students and provides them with better learning opportunities. The program also aims to “enrich” and “enhance” teaching and learning of science and mathematics at the senior secondary level.

Udaan Project has been initiated by MHRD & GoI to address low enrolment of girl students in engineering institutions. It also address teaching gap between school education & engineering entrance examination.

  • Udaan is a program for mentoring selected girl students enabling them to compete for admission at premier engineering colleges. The selection of students will be done on the basis of merit cum means.

MHRD and CBSE Launch Udaan to Help More Girls Clear IIT JEE

  • In an effort to boost the number of girls taking admission inengineering colleges, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be providing supplementary training to selected Class XI and XII girl students to prepare for the IIT JEE, through a program called UDAAN.
  • An initiative of CBSE, UDAAN, is to enable disadvantaged girls and other students from SC⟋ST and minoritiesto transit from school to post-school professional education especially in science and mathematics.
  • The first flight of UDAAN is to address lower enrolment of girl in engineering colleges which is currently about 23% girls as against 77% of boys, says a MHRD note on the highlights of the new initiatives taken up by Centre.
