UGC in compliance with its Under Graduate Act (UGCA), seeks Online Application Forms once in a Year through Advertisement in leading Newspaper & Employment Newspaper from Candidates belonging to Minority Category fulfilling Eligibility Conditions under Fellowship Scheme.

UGC shall release Short Notification & upload same on UGC Website. Incomplete Applications will not be placed before Expert Committee.

Candidates have to apply strictly as per Instructions given in Online Application Portal.

MANF Scholarship 2019 Application Form

  • Ministry of Minority Affairs (MMAs) grants Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students having Eligibility Criteria.
  • Fellowship Scheme remains open to Candidates belonging to one of Minority Communities (Muslim, Sikh, Parsee, Buddhist, Christian & Jain) & are pursuing Higher Studies, such as, Regular & Full-Time M. Phil. /Ph. D. Degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences & Engineering & Technology.
  • 03 % Fellowships are reserved for Physically Challenged/Physically Handicapped Candidates belonging to Minority Communities as per Provision laid down by GoI.
  • 756 Slots every Year earmarked for all Subjects.

Selection Procedure

  • Applications received will be scrutinized by Screening Committee.
  • Commission reserves right to withdraw/cancel Award of Fellowship without assigning any reason.
  • Result shall be published on UGC Website. Award Letters might be downloaded from UGC Online Application Portal.
  • Effective Date of Release of Fellowship shall be 1st of April of Selection Year or Actual Date of joining Fellowship Award, whichever is later.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students

  • Objective of Fellowship Scheme is to provide Integrated 5 Year Fellowships in form of Financial Assistance to Students from Minority Communities, as notified by Central Govt. to Pursue Higher Studies, such as, M. Phil. & Ph. D. at Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges as indicated below:
  1. Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under Section 2 (F) & 12 (B) of UGC Act.
  2. Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 & Eligible to receive Grants-in-Aid from UGC,
  3. Universities/Institutions/College funded by Central/State Govt.
  4. Institutes of National Importance

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates belonging to one of Minority Community who have passed Post-Graduation Examination with Min. 50 % Marks in Subject concerned & who are pursuing Full-Time Research without Junior Research Fellow of UGC – NET or UGC – CSIR NET.
  • Candidate has to fulfill following Conditions to be Eligible for Award of this Fellowship:
  1. Candidate should belong to one of Minority Communities – Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi & Jain notified under Section 2 (C) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  2. Candidate should submit Minority Community Certificate on Actionable & Legally valid Affidavit, until State Govt. / UT Administration starts to issue Minority Community Certificate.
  3. Candidate should be registered for Regular & Full-Time M. Phil/Ph. D Courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling Conditions of Admission of that University/Institution.
  4. Annual Income of Beneficiary/Parents or Guardian of Beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 2.5 Lac from all Sources. Candidate should submit his/her Income or his/her Parent’s/Guardian’s Income Certificate issued by appropriate Authority.
  5. Candidate should have secured Min. Score of 50 % at Post Graduate Level.
  6. Trans-Gender Candidates are Eligible to apply under Scheme. Reservation shall be followed as per GoI Norms.

Joining for Fellowship

  • Candidate should join Fellowship within 03-Months from Date of Issuance of Fellowship Award Letter (FAL), failing which Fellowship Award Letter will be treated as cancelled.

Cancellation of Fellowship Award

  • In case of any Candidate fraudulently obtaining Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students, Cancellation should be Automatic & Amount disbursed to him/her shall be recovered/forfeited with Interest at prevailing SBI Rate for Student Loans.
  • Unsatisfactory Progress of Research Work.
  • Candidate is later found Ineligible on Account of False Information provided in Online Applications.
  • Candidate is already availing Scholarship/Fellowship from any other Sources.
