The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), a national scholarship examination for awarding scholarships to class 10th students is conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

  • Examination concluded every year at two-tier exam: stage 1 (State level) and stage 2 (National level).
  • NTSE for students studying in class 10 is meant to identify the natural talent.

Scholarships:

About 1000 scholarships are awarded for different stages of education:

  • For class-XI to XII: Scholarships of Rs. 1250/-
  • For undergraduate and Post-graduates: Scholarships of Rs. 2000/-
  • Amount of scholarship for Ph. D. is fixed in accordance with UGC norms.

Reservation:

  • SC category: 15 % for students
  • ST category: 7.5 % for students
  • For physically challenged group of students 4%

Qualifying Marks:

  • General category: 40 % in each paper
  • SC, ST and PH category: 32 % in each paper

Eligibility:

  • All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the stage-I examination, concluded by States/UTs, in which schools are located.
  • Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for scholarship.
  • Provided below 18 years students (as on 1st July of Particular Year), the student is not employed and he/she is appearing in class X examination for the first time.
