About NSO Exam

The National Science Olympiad is organized every year to motivate students to strive for better and deeper understanding of scientific facts and data and to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills All school students from class 1st onwards are invited to participate in this unique contest that tests their understanding, level of knowledge, applications and power of reasoning.

Benefits from NSO

  • Every participant of Level-I is awarded a Certificate of Participation.

  • Students get a chance to be assessed at national / international level and are awarded performance- based Rankings.

  • Top three students of the final round from each class are awarded special Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

  • The top 500 (total 6500) winners (class-wise) are also endowed with cash prizes and scholarships, courtesy of the official sponsor.

  • All participants selected for Level-II are awarded Certificates of Merit indicating their performance in the Level II.

  • Every participant who scores 50% or more in Level-I is awarded a Certificate of Participation.

  • The comprehensive SQ (Science Quotient) report highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the participant.

Awards & Recognition

Participation Certificate to every student | Merit Certificate for students appearing in second level | School Topper Medal to the class topper in each participating school (with minimum 10 enrolments in the class concerned) shall be awarded.

Class 7 to Class 12

  • 1st Prize – Rs. 100000/- (One Lac)

  • 2nd Prize – Rs. 50000/- (Fifty Thousand)

  • 3rd Prize – Rs. 25000/- (Twenty-Five Thousand)

  • Rank 4 to Rank 10 – Rs. 5000/- (Five Thousand)

  • Rank 11 to Rank 20 – Rs. 2500/- (Two Thousand Five Hundred)

  • Rank 21 to Rank 50 – Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand)

  • Rank 51 to Rank 500 – Educational CDs’

School NSO In-Charge Award

  • Best School NSO In-charge award and cash prize of Rs. 5000/- in 23 zones.

  • All the coordinating teachers for the NSO in the school will be awarded Appreciation Certificates.

School Award

  • SIT (Science Intellect Trophy): The respective school of each 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize winner will be awarded a SIT for having the winning students on their rolls.

  • SSQ (School Science Quotient): Report for every participating School Principal / Management and HOD of Science department / Science teachers.
