Concept

Classification
- Classification not on the basis of size but sense of belonging/attachment.
- In group - a person psychologically identifies as being a member
- Out group - an individual does not identify with
Social Category
- Social category – statistical grouping of people or classification of people on the basis of similar characteristics.
- Do not interact with one another.
- Not even know of each other՚s existence.
- Type of quasi-group which may become a social group over time.
Quasi Group
- Temporarily share the same physical space
- Do not belong together
- Do not have interaction
- E. g. A crowd, commuters stuck in a traffic jam
