Theory of Revolution

  • No stage of historical development would end until it has become a fetter on the forces of production.
  • The productive forces inherent in any society develop completely before a change takes place, and the change itself would be sudden.
  • In that sudden revolutionary change the entire society would be eventually transformed, until the new society in its turn is overthrown or remoulded.
  • Thus any significant social change – the epoch making change – is always the product of revolution
  • Revolution Is the Indispensable Midwife of Social Change.
  • When the existing system is no longer capable of meeting the demand of new productive forces, it would still resist attempts to change it, so that the vested interest of the dominant class is not an adversely affected.
  • But the new productive forces must overcome all resistance and have their way.
  • They must smash the existing economic substructure along with entire superstructure in order to lay foundation of new soico-economic, legal-political order.
  • The dominant class will not be prepared to part with its power until forced by new revolutionary class to do so.
  • Revolution is therefore an essential concomitant of class struggle
  • Social revolution is the necessary lever of social change.
  • The new epoch of social history is therefore a product of revolution .
  • The capitalists system was established by the overthrow of feudal system.
  • Since the capitalists system has developed fetter on the new forces of production it must be overthrown by a new revolution – the revolution of the proletariat.
  • It would be distinct from all other revolution of human history.
  • It is not designed to win power for one particular class for exploitation of other class, but to put an end to the system of exploitation itself.
  • This would be final revolution in history to establish socialism replacing capitalism.
  • This would be the prelude to the emergence of communism.
  • A state so developed would undertake the fullest development of the new productive forces- maximum technological development and gearing the productive process to meeting social needs instead of raising private profit- nd pave way for the evolution of a classless society, and for the ‘withering away’ of the state itself.
  • Communism symbolized the perfect system of production with the highest development of forces of production.
  • It is therefore governed by communistic principle: ‘from each according to his ability to each according to his needs’ .
