Former minister of rural development & panchayati raj and Congress MLA Francis Ngajokpa resigned from the Manipur assembly polls. Francis submitted his resignation to Manipur PCC president T.N. Haokip.

  • On September 12, Erabot left Congress and joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
  • Biren resigned as MLA on October 6.
  • Francis supporters had arranged a meeting at the Maram town – about 80km north of Imphal. He resigned to receive continued support.
  • His supporters warned that they would not vote for any Congress candidate in the 49 (ST) Tadubi Assembly constituency in the forthcoming state Assembly election.
