Speaker Protem

As soon as the new Lok Sabha is constituted, the President appoints a Speaker Pro-tem who is generally the senior-most Member (seniority in terms of number of years he/she served as a member) of the House.
In case t|i.e.two Members are equally qualified, weightage is given to the Member's age. His functions include administering oath to the Lok Sabha Members and presiding over the election of a new Speaker.
The office of the Speaker Pro-term sinks as soon as the Speaker is elected.
