18 States and 7 UT’s discontinued the practice of interview in recruitment for lower level job as per available information on 24th July 2017. There are some benefits of discontinuation of interview in selection process at lower level posts.

Objectives of Discontinuation of Interview in Selection Process at Lower Level Posts:

  • To control corruption.
  • More objective selection in transparent manner.
  • Substantially easing the problems of poor aspirants.

UT Administration of Daman & Diu informed that:

  • It has benefitted them economically.
  • Savings on account of non-application of travelling or daily allowance, other expenditure involved in calling candidates for interview.

UT Administration of Lakshadweep informed that:

  • Local aspirants have economically benefitted from this initiative of the Government.

Key Details:

  • Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are recently decided discontinuation of interview in the recruitment of lower level jobs.
  • Sikkim and Meghalaya state have not adopted this process.
  • Nagaland state related information is not available.
  • Before, that step has already taken to implement scrapping of interview system concerning junior level posts (Group B & C) of all Departments, informed by the State of Odisha.
  • Dr. Jitendra Singh specified this information in written reply to a question by Shri Naranbhai Kachhadiya in Lok Sabha.
  • He is the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office.
