Introduction
National Brain Research Center Scholarships are awarded by the National Brain Research Center, which was established on 14th November, 1997 by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to contribute to the field of neurosciences by serving as a dedicated center for Brain Research focussing functioning of the brain at the molecular, cellular, genetic and behavioral levels and to address the major neurological diseases that has been fully recognized.
An Autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, the National Brain Research Center is accorded the status of a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission. Main aim of NBRC is to give infrastructures and a co-ordinated multidisciplinary team to work at the frontiers of neuroscience research and network the existing groups and whenever required to create satellite units to catalyze the overall growth of the discipline in the country. NBRC was dedicated to the service of the nation on 16th December 2003 by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the Honorable President of India.
National Brain Research Center organises many doctoral and post-doctoral programs in areas like neuroscience and brain research. Candidates who have enrolled for the various different programs offered by the NRBC are entitled to the receipt of scholarships sponsored by the organization. Such scholarships are designed to help the students in their various research activities and meet their financial requirements from time to time.

National Brain Research Center Scholarships are available only to students admitted in the courses of the NRBC quoted below:
- PHD Program in Neuroscience (₹ 8000 per month)
- Integrated MSC-PHD Program in Neuroscience (₹ 1000 per month)
- Post doctoral Fellowship (₹ 10500 per month)
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria are the same as the admission criteria for their respective programs.

National Brain Research Center Scholarships are usually provided to candidates during the whole period of their research at the institute.
Application for National Brain Research Center Scholarships
For the NBRC Scholarship, a candidate must have enrolled himself to any one of the various different research programs of the NBRC. The institute generally guides the student regarding the various application procedures.
