The UGC Part Time Research Associateship for Women was introduced with an aim of enabling non-working women, holding PHD degrees an opportunity to carry out the research work. These women should essentially be women of merit in their desired areas of study, who have not been able to do any research due to certain unfavourable circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC Part Time Research Associateship for Women

  • Women having PHD degrees and having a significantly outstanding academic record.
  • Should preferably have published research paper.
  • Should have at least a first class in post-graduation with atleast 55 % marks in graduation.
  • Should not be more than 50 years of age as on 1st July.


100 part time Research Associateships are awarded by the University Grants Commission every year. The duration of the R. A. Is for a maximum time period of 5 years.

Application Procedure for UGC Part Time Research Associateship for Women

Application Forms for Part-time Research Associateship for women should be forwarded to the University Grants Commission (Selection & Award Bureau) , South Campus, Delhi University, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi 110 021.

Application form can be downloaded from the official website of UGC and should be accompanied by:

  • 1 passport size photograph duly signed across it.
  • Particulars of published research papers and other academic achievements.

Value of Scholarships

The amount of financial assistance under the part time R. A. Is quoted below:

  • For candidates who have no experience in case of research, the grant is ₹ 6,000/-per month.
  • For candidates having experience in case of research of 5 years, the grant is ₹ 8,000/per month subject to recommendation by a committee of experts.
  • A yearly contingency allowance of ₹ 10,000/-for the period of 5 years is given.
  • A departmental help allowance of 10 % of the associateship grant is given to the institute or university where the research work is carried out:
  • House Rent Allowance is not given under the Scheme.
  • A fixed allowance of ₹ 1,000/-per month is earmarked for disabled women candidates.
