Global Gene Corpand Global Gene Corp and Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) has launched first ever beacon for Indian genomics data. It is expected to help scientists develop more effective drug delivery systems. First Indian beacon, ggcINDIA, is a milestone for GA4GH.

Highlights

  • Beacon is an online web service that allows researchers to determine whether an institution has particular genomic data in its data set.
  • It was launched by Indian deputy high commissioner to the UK, Dinesh Patnaik.
  • Beacon aims to bridge gap in lack of shared Indian genomics data and to help scientists better understand disease.
  • It will help to develop more effective drug delivery systems and therapeutics.

Founding Principles of Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH)

  • GA4GH has four nimble Working Groups concentrating on: (1) Genomic Data, (2) Clinical Data; (3) Security and Privacy; (4) Regulatory and Ethics.
