Fellowship Scheme For Doctoral Work In Criminology And Police Science

Fresh applications are received from Indian National for the Award of 6 Fellowships for Doctoral work in Criminology and Police Science. The value of fellowship is Rs. 8, 000/-per month for the first 2 years and Rs. 9, 000/-per month in the third year along with the contingency grant of Rs. 10, 000/-per annum. The fellowship is for three years of Rs. 3, 000/-per year will be paid to the institution where the fellow is registered for PHD work in Criminology as well as Police Science.

Eligibility For Fellowship Scheme

Candidates must have 1st/2nd class Master's Degree with having not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade in criminology/sociology/social work/Psychology/social anthropology/public administration/political science/law with II class bachelor's degree on the aforesaid subject.

NET/SET qualified candidates will be given more priority, but it is however not the criteria for the selection. The candidate should either be registered for PHD programme with any reputed Indian university or should be in the process of registration from the date of award of fellowship.

Candidates age must be preferably below 30 years on 31.12. 2006.

Reservation

Around Twenty percent of the total number of fellowships are kept reserved for SC or ST candidates.

The fellowship is awarded preferably when the topic of research belongs to any of the following areas:

  • Key Performance Indicators or measurably of police performance
  • Police Public Interface
  • Developing Models for specialized training
  • Use of I. T in Police work or any other, that the candidate may suggest and that the subject is considered of value.
