Earliest People

  • Hunters: Alert, Quick, Presence of mind (animals used to run fast)

How We Know About Earliest People?

  • Tools they used: Stone, wood, bone

  • To cut meat and bone

  • To scrape bark (from trees) and hides (animal skins)

  • To chop fruit and roots

  • Wood to make huts and tools

Making Stone Tools

  • Stone-on-Stone: One stone used as hammer on another

  • Pressure Flaking: Core placed on firm surface and hammer stone used to remove flakes

  • To light

  • To cook

  • To fear away animals

Hunting to Rearing

  • 12,000 years ago – Climate change – shift to warm climate & development of grasslands

  • Increase in rearing animals

  • Learnt about food habit and breeding season of animals

  • Grow crops like wheat & barley – till now grown naturally
